Ohira was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1982 and lives in Chiba, Japan. A Japanese artist, he received his Ph.D.

(Fine Arts) from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2011, and is a sculptor who works primarily with sculpture and

installation techniques.Wood, a highly plastic material that was first used by mankind like soil,continues to be

an indispensable material in our cultural life, not only for art, but also as a basic element in all kinds of daily

tools and dwellings.In recent years, Ohira has returned to the inherent characteristics of this material to create

“meaningless” sculptures based on what might be called the primordial human impulse of mindlessness and

impulse without reason in creation.
